Reflections by Moonlight - Three Tendrils for Today

Never underestimate the power of a cool, crisp, and breezy autumn day... to calm, naturally, evenly (and to slow the world down, just a little bit); to revitalize the heart, mind, and soul (together as one); to become a character in a story of your own design (and smiling as it unfolds).

A ball and a dog's tail wagging a hundred miles an hour can alter (your) time and space...for the better.

All of the "in-between" moments, and all of the "prosaic" moments, are no less valuable, and no less precious, than the epiphanies, the shockers, and the brainstorms.

Today's Tendril...

Sadness. Anger. Regret.

These are the tar pits, deserts, and black holes of the mind; in the mind.

That is, until you decide to turn them into something else. Something decidedly...positive.

Or, at the least, turn them into something colored a lighter shade of cerebral gray.

Rumination 3 - Meaning in Decline

Beauty is subjective.
Transformation destroys something.
Chaos is relative.
Order requires power.
Honesty is elusive.
Privacy needs a shield.
Reality is myopic.
Only the struggle lasts forever.

Lines and Stones

"Lines and Stones"

Every line is an exploration,
A rumination,
A temptation.

And the path of the pilgrim,
The wanderer,
The seeker,
Is a path lined with misery stones,
Shards of glass,
And spiders.

It is said, "Only the driven experience frustration.
Only the driven know true pain."

And yet, aren't the driven also fools,
When they toil without progress,
Without satisfaction,
Without relief,
Without end,
Well into the morrow,
And beyond?

Today's Reflective Tendril...

Geek. Misfit. Goody-goody.

All badges of honor.

Earned with integrity.

Worn with pride.

Polished by life.

Flexible Reality

The truck was red.
     The moon was green.
The door was black.
     The field, serene.

The pickle burped.
     The shoe, it sneezed.
The frog did croak.
     The tension?
          Eased.

About

The flexible reality — only available in the minds of artists, dreamers, and children.

Part 2: Of Moss and Veil: A Tendril

Melancholy is a rose. Be wary of its thorns.

Part 3: Of Moss and Veil: In Silent Passage

Of moss and veil
I come to thee;
In silent passage,
Together we drift.

To snuff the spark,
Before it lands,
Is all it takes
For the balance to shift.

The Line Reclaimed

Allow the hate to open wide,
And all you've done is die inside.

Take the time to try to care,
And you'll destroy the dark despair.

Force yourself to laugh out loud,
And you'll become a silver cloud.

The less you think the more you'll feel,
And hopes and dreams become like steel.

So push away the wicked voices,
And give in to your sacred choices.

Take a breath and stop and say,
"I have the might to seize the day!"

I am the line in the sand.

I am my sanity reclaimed!

So Flows

Listening to the rhythms of the rain...

And with each beat,
A little more pain
Marches its way
To a pool
In my mind,
Fed by the rain,
And drowns.

Rain, rain, don't go away,
'Till my pain
Has lost its grey.

Tendrils

There are times when the path from idea to artwork takes you down rat holes, tumbling through rabbit holes, and into black holes.

The artist and the scientist know too well the meaning of begat.

Sure, an umbrella keeps the rain off of you, but what does it matter when you choose to play in the rain?

Simplicity is a tadpole that becomes a frog (or a toad).

Simplicity is a rat hole, if you let it.

For artists, engineers, and scientists alike, keeping it simple is easier said than done.

If balance and equilibrium were states of perfection, then we'd never know the wonders of frost or the jewels of dew.

Complexity is a Frankenstein stitched from the fabric of simplicity.

Chasing the possibilities can be a lot like chasing windmills.

At some point you have to accept that you're stuck in the quagmire of choice, especially when you're reaching for the clouds.

It's amazing how this, 8^), can cause so much consternation.

Raw (a Drain Pipe)

Define the complication.
Breed the dependencies.
Spawn the zombies and let them feast upon all that is fresh.

Spin the agony.
Push the point into a maze.
Light the fuse,
  get away — and pray.

Splinter support.
Fog the masses.
Feed the machine (slave to the grind).

Stake the ground.
Burn the ends.
Pull apart with rusty hooks.

Sleight of mind.
Out of hand.
  Look away!
    Turn around!
Only to…

Lock onto yellow-red vermin eyes,
  as you become entangled
  in the vines of chaos,
while a swarm of flies descends with fury
      from ever darkening skies.

Between Two Ends

I'm alone,
 but I'm alive.
I'll lament,
 but I'll survive.

Sometimes down,
 but never out,
I'll defy,
 this crushing doubt.

Faith in God,
 helps keep me sane.
I'll lick my wounds,
 and use their pain.

And day by day,
 I'll make my way,
Back to the dream,
 I sent away.

I'LL BE ME,
Between two ends!

Dedicated to all that: (1) are to the left or to the right of the so-called "center," (2) won't give in to the pressures of the crowd, (3) refuse to bow down to those that abuse their positions of authority, and (4) march to the beat of their own drummers (and thus considered misfits or outsiders).
