A Covenant of Power

A covenant of power, bonded by hubris,
Manipulates with impunity.

Webs of complexity are manufactured,
In three dimensions, plus one.

Then the machines are turned loose,
To feed upon anxiety and insecurity.

They celebrate the savagery,
And pity what remains.

A Scent of You

I lit a candle tonight,

As I do every night.

The candle has a scent of you,

And I'm taken away to a world of us.

I smile.

Then I cry,

Because you're no longer here,

And all I have is a candle — and a memory.

How I miss the scent of you,

On my skin,

After holding you;

After loving you.

How I long for the real scent of you.
