Today's Tendril...

When opportunity knocks on your door, answer the window, and ask for two forms of photo identification.

Verify, then "trust."

Lines and Stones

"Lines and Stones"

Every line is an exploration,
A rumination,
A temptation.

And the path of the pilgrim,
The wanderer,
The seeker,
Is a path lined with misery stones,
Shards of glass,
And spiders.

It is said, "Only the driven experience frustration.
Only the driven know true pain."

And yet, aren't the driven also fools,
When they toil without progress,
Without satisfaction,
Without relief,
Without end,
Well into the morrow,
And beyond?

Cascading sentiment.
Individuality in decline.
Bleeding hearts and hater feeds.
To like or not to like?

Trends and friends,
And trolls and vines,
Promoted to the top.

Clickety-click,
And tickety-tick,
Disposable truths,
And grapevine facts,
Always on display.

Reluctance comes in three types:
  • Abundance of care and caution

  • Anxiety inducing fear

A tall tale has something in common with sky writing — the story starts out tight and well defined, then expands and gets fuzzy over time.

Today's Tendril...

Sometimes "confidence" is the conscious decision to carry on, even though the odds might be against you.

At other times confidence is the fire of full on defiance, because you know the odds are against you.

Today's Tendril... (Remix, Dark Version)

You won't find philosophy hiding under rocks, creeping across webs, or slithering across sand dunes, but you will find philosophy hiding, creeping, and slithering in the hearts and minds of all humankind.

Pod #1466222400

Are things true because they "are true," or are they true because you agree with them, align with them, are predisposed to them?

What if "the truth" is nothing more than the absence of knowledge and an all-too-green wisdom?

What if we're unwilling to ask the so-called deeper questions, because the ignorance that is our bliss, is also the sedation that keeps us from straying off the path of least resistance?

Pondering and exploring have lost step to shoulder shrugs and lumbering.

Morning Crow

Morning crow,
Don’t perch too long,
On the centennial tree,
For the lumberjacks,
Are coming soon.

And the cawing portents,
Mean nothing,
To the shiny teeth,
Of hardened steel.
